Drawing Breath is an intimate portrait of a 15+ year friendship between Daniel Mudie Cunningham and Wart. For this project they set out to make a performance project from a poem Wart once wrote about a paper bag. The collaboration commenced with a playful photo series where the artists were looking for a shared performative language. As they set out to complete the process with a companion video work, significant life events interrupted their plans, inspiring a performance film where the artists reflect on friendship and grief. Intimate and moving, Daniel and Wart’s conversation is a life-affirming meditation on living with and breathing through, the cracks in everything.
